Life has a way of teaching us lessons we need to learn on our journey to find meaning and purpose. For me, it took three tries.
Like many Asian immigrants, the path to achieving the American “dream” was to become a doctor, lawyer, or engineer. I couldn’t stomach the sight of blood and hated to argue, which left me with only one viable option to make my parents proud. After obtaining my mechanical engineering degree, I spent the first 8 years of my career in the aerospace manufacturing industry in Seattle, WA. I became fascinated by how large-scale systems work and learned to make production processes more lean and efficient. I was good at what I did, but often felt disconnected and lonely.
My thirst for learning eventually brought me back to graduate school. This time, I went for an MBA to learn more about business with the vision of climbing the corporate ladder into management. I thought having a bigger title and more money would make me happy. But after working 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for five more years… I realized the feelings of disconnection and loneliness were still there. Nothing had changed internally. The only difference between my 20-something and 30-something self is that I was mentally and physically burnt out. I kept asking myself, “Is there more to life than this?”
That question eventually led me to leave the corporate life in search of redefining how I work and live. I wanted to feel alive and energized in what I do. During this confusing transitionary period, I got accepted into Stanford’s Interpersonal Dynamics Facilitation program and found my purpose as a coach and trainer: To help people and teams to have the impact they want. Since then, I have facilitated 50+ teams and coached 750+ leaders from first-time managers to C-level executives to:
Gain clarity on where they get “stuck”;
Reframe their experience to see more choices and possibilities; and
Build relevant skills to untangle their way to full potential.
An engineer at heart, I started this company to bring a practical approach to serve those who are tired of playing small. Transform your life for the better. Let us help you to become the best version of yourself!
